Of these photographs, Ana Aizpiri pointed out that “in choosing the seemingly flattest, most nondescript motifs from the natural environment of Eibar, and in the conversion of those motifs, even those that are ugly in our collective unconscious, such as the insignis pines and their disorderly deposits of filamentous leaves, José Ronco has found the value of purifying the environment as a method of expressive exploration, far removed from the bucolic and romantic visions so traditional in our landscape painters.“
