Eibar, the factory city

One of the unique urban features of Eibar is the integration of workshops and homes within the town center, sharing the same space and creating a unique coexistence between family life and the sounds and smells of machinery.

José Ronco (Ragama, 1959) began photographing the urban landscape of Eibar in 1997, at a time of urban renewal. His gaze focuses on some of the most emblematic industrial buildings, the intersections of streets and spaces shared by workshops and homes, without forgetting the space stolen from nature. In addition to their undeniable aesthetic value, his photographs also have unquestionable documentary value. (Texts by Nerea Alustiza).
