“… The siren sounds, back to work and you are walking…”

Like so many others. The motor of the town is starting up. The entire population is governed by the sound. Four times a day, with unerring punctuality. It is the spiral column. The gate opens and the stream of human beings disgorged from the factory floods the streets. On this eighty-thousand-square-metre surface, hundreds upon hundreds of blue-overalled men and women trace an intricate and agile dance. The day´s work is at an end. Each one to his or her particular destination. Each one is an individual life. The factory is the axis, their social contact, their future, their discomfort. So many years devoted to the factory.
