Among my favourite hobbies, there are two to which I dedicate the most time: the mountain and photography.
My interest in architectural photography runs parallel to the urbanistic changes that my city –Eibar- is undergoing, especially since the end of the last decade.
One of the main characteristics of this change is the rapid disappearance of a large part of the industrial architectural heritage, made up of industrial buildings inserted side by side to houses within the city limits.
The disappearance of so many buildings has been the common scenario for the inhabitants of Eibar, some of these buildings were emblematic for the history of the city and this has led me to feel a duty to record them. I was aware of the urgency of the work. However, it is not the urgency of visiting places that had existed once, but the fact that many of them are lived in or used for work at that moment. Although this may seem strange when viewing some of the photos, the places are alive, many with a frenetic rate of activity. One must take into account the provisional nature of urban landscape. In fact, one ot he first buildings that I photographed, the symbolic firearms testing range was demolished only a few weeks after taking the photograph, in June 1997.
BIOGRAPHY
Collaborated for a time with the press; after experimenting with different genres, in recent years he set about photographing the landscape around him. A brief example of this is his series on Eibar, his place of residence, which he has captured in photographs for more than 12 years, works which feature in his book Eibar, ciudad taller. He has shown works solo or as part of a group in Ongarri, BilbaoFot, Galería Railowsky (Valencia), CC Montehermoso (Vitoria), Institut d´Estudis Fotografics (Barcelona), COAVN (San Sebastián), Canal Isabel II (Madrid), Bienal Sao Paulo (Valencia), Galería Rafael Perez Hernando (PHE, Madrid), Photomuseum (Zarauz) and Casa de la Imagen (Logroño), etc.
